Early Treatment-Phase I - The American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) recommends that children should have at least one orthodontic consultation between ages of 3 and 7. Luckily, many young children do not have serious problems; keeping these children under observation as the permanent teeth erupt is sufficient.

However, in a handful of young patients treatment should start early, and a two-phase orthodontic treatment may be necessary for achieving the optimal result.
The two-phase process consists of starting braces when the child has both baby and adult teeth.

Early correction of orthodontic problems is imperative to prevent and minimize dental and skeletal issues which would be much more difficult to resolve when the child is older and the facial bone structure has set firmly. When the first interceptive phase of the treatment is completed, the patient is placed under observation.

Phase II treatment using full braces, may be necessary when the permanent teeth erupt, but treatment may be less complex due to the benefits of the earlier treatment phase. Adolescent and adult patients usually require full braces to correct crooked teeth and bite problems.

We use the latest types of braces available, including clear, gold and inside (lingual) braces.

We are qualified to provide Invisalign, the newest "braceless" orthodontic technique for adults.

We have extensive experience with a fixed functional appliance, the Herbst appliance which eliminates headgear wear in suitable cases.

We communicate with your dentist to treat complex problems where teeth need to be straightened in preparation for veneers, crowns, implants and bridgework.

We work together with oral and maxillofacial surgeons to treat severe jaw problems requiring a combination of orthodontic treatment and jaw surgery.

We treat cleft palate cases and patients with craniofacial anomalies in cooperation with plastic surgeons.
